Maligaon, November 21 (MExN): In a major advancement for the Indian Railways, ten (10) pairs of train services running under Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) are set to be upgraded from conventional ICF coaches to modern LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) rakes. In an update received here, it stated that this initiative is part of Indian Railways’ ongoing modernisation efforts aimed at enhancing passenger safety, riding comfort and operational efficiency.
It informed that the conversion of five (05) pairs of trains was successfully completed between June and August 2025. These include train no. 15715/15716 (Kishanganj-Ajmer-Kishanganj), train no. 15722/15721 (New Jalpaiguri–Digha–New Jalpaiguri), train no.13159/13160 (Kolkata Terminal –Jogbani- Kolkata Terminal), and train no. 13212/13211 (Danapur-Jogbani- Danapur) and train no. 13214/13213 (Saharsa Jn. -Jogbani- Saharsa Jn.)
Similarly, it added that train no. 15911/15912 (Tinsukia Junction–Naharlagun–Tinsukia Junction), train no. 13173/13174 (Sealdah–Sabroom-Sealdah) and train no. 13175/13176 (Sealdah-Silchar-Sealdah) are on track for LHB upgradation and are scheduled to be converted by the end of November 2025. In addition, train no. 55675/55676 (Agartala-Dharmanagar-Agartala) and train No. 15664/15663 (Silchar–Agartala–Silchar) are scheduled for conversion in January 2026, it informed.
