101 railway employees to be honoured with ‘Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar’

Maligaon, December 17 (MExN): The Indian Railways has announced the ‘Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar’ for 101 railway employees and officers across various zones for their outstanding contributions in safety, innovation, revenue generation and operational excellence. Among the awardees, two employees from NF Railway (NFR) have been recognised for their exceptional dedication and selfless service that led to saving of both human lives and properties for the railways. Both employees will be felicitated by the Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw at a grand ceremony to be held on December 21 at Bhartiya Mandapam, New Delhi.

From NFR, Raj Narayan Kumar, Loco Pilot/Goods (Electrical) of Badarpur, has been selected for his exceptional act of bravery and alertness. His timely action during the operation of train 05676 UP Dharmanagar-Agartala Passenger Special ensured the prevention of a likely untoward incident at Baramura hill ranges, after passing the Teliamura station in Tripura. On that day, carrying approximately 1,000 passengers, the train encountered a massive landslide blocking the tracks amid heavy rain. Kumar’s swift application of emergency brakes stopped the train just 100 meters from the debris, ensuring the safety of all passengers on board. His quick thinking and communication with railway authorities were critical in managing the situation effectively.
