Dimapur, September 22 (MExN): The 173 Bn CRPF organised a Civic Action Programme (CAP) at F/173 Bn CRPF, Powergrid, Dimapur, by distributing solar lamps to beneficiaries from Kuda-B Village, Full Nagarjan, Phaipijang and nearby villages.
In a press release, the paramilitary force informed that a total of 16 families received the lamps at the event held under its Civic Action Programme for the year 2026–27.
Addressing the occasion, Withuiliu Newmai, AC and Officer Commanding, F/173 Bn CRPF, emphasised the force's commitment to serving the local community through various civic initiatives, it said.
Such programmes play an important role in bridging the gap between the security forces and the local populace and in strengthening mutual trust, cooperation and goodwill, she added.
Among others, Dr Kaustav Jyoti Kalita, Chief Manager, Powergrid, Dimapur, Chairman and Gaon Buras (GBs), and other local representatives attended the event.
C/173 Bn distributes storage tanks
Meanwhile, C/173 Bn CRPF, DEF Camp Mokokchung, also organised a CAP at its company headquarters at DEF Camp, Chuchuyimpang, and distributed water storage tanks to various schools, a church and needy residents of Chuchuyimpang and Khensa villages.
The beneficiaries included Government Middle School and Government Primary School, Chuchuyimpang; DEF Police Church; GMS Amenyong, Khensa; Youth Club; and needy residents of Chuchuyimpang village residing near the camp, a separate press release from 173 Bn stated.
Speaking on the occasion, P Nilakanta Singh, Assistant Commandant and Company Commander, C/173 Bn CRPF, highlighted the importance of CAPs in supporting needy communities and educational institutions and contributing to their day-to-day welfare.
Such programmes strengthen mutual trust and help bridge the gap between the security forces and the local population, he added.
Gracing the programme, Temsuchuba Jamir, SDO, Mokokchung, acknowledged the importance of initiatives such as CAPs in fostering positive relations between the security forces and the local community. Subash Arambam, Assistant Director of Printing & Stationery, Mokokchung, was the Guest of Honour.
Among others, headmasters of GPS and GMS Chuchuyimpang; a teacher of GMS, Amenyong, Khensa; and Village Council Chairman of Khensa attended the CAP.
