1st Longleng badminton open championship concludes

LONGLENG, FEBRUARY 8 (MExN): The 1st Longleng District Badminton Open Championship 2020 culminated with Yanithung Ezung, Sr. Superintendent of Police, Longleng as the Guest of Honour on February 7 at Multi Purpose Indoor Stadium. 

In his closing speech the Guest of Honour said that he was deeply inspired by the people of Longleng’s love for sports and added that Longleng is a land of sports lovers. Asserting that Badminton is an expensive sport he praised the Longleng District Badminton Association (LDBA) for organizing the tournament with a vision to provide special platform for the sports loving youth to excel especially in the field of badminton.

Earlier, H. Matong Phom, General Secretary, LDBA spoke on the origin of Badminton as a discipline, its value and health benefits. The Pastor Ao Baptist Church, Longleng Temsumeren who spoke on behalf of the parents said that the tournament was organized with an objective to give opportunity to the youths who love sports and exhorted on discipline of sports and time management to become a successful sports star, while Y. Chingtuk Phom shared his experience representing the players.

Altogether 71 players participated in the championship in 12 categories.
