A resource person addresses participants during a Catholic youth seminar organized by St Peter’s Parish in Kiphire.
KIPHIRE, OCTOBER 18 (MExN): Around 200 Catholic youth from eight villages attended a day-long seminar organised by St Peter’s Parish, Kiphire, on October 17, to deepen their understanding of Church teachings and strengthen their commitment to Christian values. The seminar was held under the theme, “Stand Firm in Your Faith, Be Courageous and Strong,” with three resource persons addressing the participants on the Bible and Church traditions, Baptism, and Christian marriage.
Rev. Fr. Vemedo Joseph Kezo, Parish Priest of St Paul Church, Pungro Town, spoke on “Bible and Traditions of the Church.” He explained the relationship between Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition and their complementary roles in preserving and transmitting the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Rev. Fr. Luke Nagahoto, Assistant Priest of St Peter’s Parish, Kiphire, spoke on the Sacrament of Baptism, explaining its meaning, different types and significance as the foundation of Christian life.
Rev. Fr. Thomas Toretkiu addressed the Sacrament of Marriage, highlighting its sacredness, lifelong commitment, mutual love, fidelity and responsibilities in Christian family life. Reflecting on the seminar’s theme, he encouraged the youth to “remain steadfast in faith, face life’s challenges courageously and become living witnesses of the Gospel.”
An interactive question-and-answer session allowed participants to submit written questions and clarify their doubts with the resource persons.

The programme began with an opening prayer led by Rev. Sr. Tresa Kochumuriyil, SABS, followed by a welcome address from Paul, President of the Catholic Youth Movement (CYM). The sessions were compered by Ato David, Tessy Eathsi, Nyison Justin, Totsala Sharon and Rev. Sr. Martha, SABS. Solo songs, trio presentations, and praise and worship performances by youth from different villages added to the programme.
Lunch was prepared by the Parish Council and women leaders of the parish.
The seminar concluded with a Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Luke Nagahoto, who encouraged the youth in his homily to remain strong in faith and witness to Christ through their daily lives.
