21st ZMT Gold Cup kicks off

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 6 (MExN): The annual meet of Western Sumi Sports Association (21st ZMT Gold Cup) got underway this morning at Suhoi village under Kuhuboto area.
N. Jacob Zhimomi, minister, PHED who graced the opening ceremony as special guest kicked off the weeklong event. During the day he also inaugurated Suhoi village playground rostrum.
In his inaugural speech, the minister expressed happiness and urged the Western Sumi to continue uplifting the people under one common platform irrespective of any social bias. We should not forget our forefathers and leaders who stood all the way long in preserving and protecting the land for the younger generation for their livelihood, he stated.
He also encouraged the players to play in true sportsmanship spirit and give their best. Sports with education alongside is the best tool for a sportsman and therefore encouraged the players to give education as important as the game, he added.
The tournament will culminate on January 11 wherein Shri Pukhai Assumi, Advisor, Food & Civil Supply, LMCP and Taxes Department will give away prizes to the winners as special guest of the closing ceremony.
