Wins for Thyüshong Cricket Club and Highlander’s Chümoukedima

The 29th T20 Winter Cricket Challenge, held at the Local Ground in Wokha and organized by the Senior Noble Klan under the aegis of the Nagaland Cricket Association, saw victories for Thyüshong Cricket Club Tseminyu and Highlander’s Chümoukedima today. The tournament is being played under the theme “Green Cover Drive.”

In the first match of the day, Thyüshong Cricket Club defeated WDCA. Winning the toss, Thyüshong chose to bat and set a target of 210/2 in 20 overs. Alok Sharma, who was dropped twice early on, went on to score a match-winning 110 runs. He was supported by Kepesiele Kent, who remained not out at 40.

For WDCA, Shahil Uddin was the most notable bowler, taking 1 wicket for 45 runs in 4 overs. In response, WDCA started the chase strong with their openers, but after their dismissal, the top and middle order collapsed under pressure from Thyüshong’s bowlers. Liren Jungio was the top scorer for WDCA, contributing 21 runs. Nunthilo Magh was the standout bowler for Thyüshong, taking 5 wickets for just 7 runs in 4 overs, including 1 maiden. WDCA was bowled out for 86 runs in 17.2 overs, handing Thyüshong a 124-run victory. Alok Sharma was named Man of the Match for his 110-run performance.

In the second match of the day, Highlander’s Chümoukedima triumphed over Comets CC. Comets won the toss and opted to bat, setting a target of 173/4 in 20 overs. Renben Kikon and Tenuram Difusa gave a strong start, both scoring over 20 runs.

Nchumbemo and Faizul Haque then combined for 90 runs, taking the game forward. Hiketo Aye was the best bowler for Highlander’s, taking 1 wicket for 37 runs in 4 overs.

In reply, Highlander’s chased down the target in 18.5 overs, winning by 6 wickets. Openers Shamphri and Hiketo Aye made an aggressive start, and Asif Wasim’s 69 runs helped seal the victory. Faizul Haque was the only successful bowler for Comets, taking 2 wickets in 4 overs. Asif Wasim was named Man of the Match for his all-round performance.

The next matches on December 28, 2024, will feature GAPYOCC vs Juggernaut and Kohima Hornbills vs Mayangnokcha MCC.
