The ongoing 29th T20 Winter Cricket Challenge at the Local Ground in Wokha, organised by the Nagaland Cricket Association under the aegis of the Senior Noble Klan, saw two thrilling quarter-finals unfold as Juggernaut CC and Rising Star sealed their spots in the semi-finals.

In the first quarter-final, Juggernaut CC faced Thyüshong TDC after winning the toss and opting to bat. Setting a competitive target of 150/8 in 20 overs, Juggernaut’s innings were built around a solid 46-run knock from Gaurav, ably supported by Nayan Hazarika’s 20. Despite some tight bowling from TDC, which saw Ntsenlo Semp return figures of 4-0-25-2 and Gideon Khing 4-0-27-2, the fielding department was less disciplined, contributing to some missed chances.

In reply, Thyüshong TDC were undone by a brilliant bowling performance from Juggernaut CC, with Toshimanen taking 3.3-0-20-3 and Alamo finishing with 4-0-19-4. The top-order crumbled under pressure, and despite a valiant 28* from tailender Gideon Khing and 17 runs from Henry Kent, TDC were bowled out for just 99 runs in 17.3 overs, falling short by 51 runs. Juggernaut CC claimed victory, and Toshimanen was named the Man of the Match for his exceptional all-round performance.

The second quarter-final witnessed a low-scoring encounter between Rising Star and Mayangnokcha CC. Rising Star won the toss and chose to bat, posting a modest total of 118/10 in 20 overs. Dipu Gogoi and Janbemo Kikon provided stability in the middle overs, while the best bowling performance came from Mayangnokcha’s Mhonbemo Kithan (4-0-16-3), with Merenkaba Jamir supporting well (4-0-22-2).

Chasing the target, Mayangnokcha started their innings with a solid contribution from Among Vijay, who scored 27 runs quickly before being dismissed in the 5th over. However, after Vijay, only Mhonbemo (15* not out) managed to make a significant contribution. The match turned into a tense bowling contest, with Rising Star bowlers Renbemo Jungio (4-0-15-3) and Chonben Kithan (3.1-0-27-3) tightening the chase. Despite a valiant effort, Mayangnokcha were bowled out for 112 runs in 19.3 overs, falling short by just 5 runs. Rising Star emerged victorious in this nail-biting contest, and Renbemo Jungio was named the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance with the ball.

With both Juggernaut CC and Rising Star advancing to the semi-finals, the 29th T20 Winter Cricket Challenge is heating up.
