Juggernaut CC and Kohima Hornbills emerged victorious in their respective matches at the ongoing 29th T20 Winter Cricket Challenge, held at the Local Ground Wokha. The tournament, organised by the Senior Noble Klan, is being conducted under the aegis of the Nagaland Cricket Association.
In the opening match of the day, GAPYO CC won the toss and chose to bat first, setting a target of 116/7 in their 20 overs. Lal Kishan top-scored for GAPYO CC with an unbeaten 37, supported by Lanvungthung, who contributed 15 runs. Juggernaut’s Alamo was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for just 15 runs in his 4 overs.
Chasing the target, Juggernaut’s openers, Abemo Kikon (16) and Gaurav (56*), put up a solid partnership, taking their team to victory by six wickets in 15 overs. Rhonchio was the pick of the bowlers for GAPYO CC, with figures of 1/7 from 2 overs. Gaurav’s all-round performance earned him the Man of the Match award.
In the second game, Tiyi Royals won the toss and opted to bat first, posting a total of 153/7 in 20 overs. The Royals’ opening pair, Liren Murry (53) and Mhademo Humtsoe (32), provided a strong start, contributing 85 runs before the middle order faltered. The pick of the bowlers for Kohima Hornbills was Anga, who claimed 2 wickets for 17 runs in his 4 overs.
Kohima Hornbills’ chase began with a flurry of boundaries from Anga (35) and Tapitu (53), who capitalised on an early reprieve after being dropped on just 4 runs. The pair’s aggressive batting guided the Hornbills to a comfortable six-wicket win in 16.4 overs. For Tiyi Royals, Mhajan Tsanglao was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for 22 runs in his 4 overs. Tapitu was named Man of the Match for his match-winning knock and fine bowling performance.
