A three day long 2nd All Nagaland Open Badminton Championship 2019 got underway here today at Indoor Stadium, Officers’ Hill, Kohima under the aegis of Crescent Club, Kohima with the theme “Battle for excellence.”
Sara S. Jamir, joint secretary, Department of Power Nagaland graced the inaugural session.
She appreciated the club for giving platform to the badminton players and the veterans to keep themselves fit.
She also called upon the participants to remain active in sports so as to keep themselves fit and healthy.
Crescent club president Temjen said the club initiated this championship to promote badminton and to showcase the talents.
He informed that amateur category has been introduced this year for the upcoming players to showcase their talents.
The three day- long event will feature open mix doubles, 85+ men’s veteran doubles, 95+ men's veteran doubles and open amateur men’s doubles which will be played on knockout basis.
The organizer has set aside a total cash prize amounting to Rs. 1.30 lakhs.
Altogether, 106 participants registered for this championship.
The tournament will go on till October 25.
