Dimapur, December 12 (MExN): The 2nd Inter-Block Football Tournament of Sugar Mill village organized by Sugar Mill Village Council got underway this morning at village ground with L. Lepshi Jamir, Advisor, Dimapur Municipal Council as chief guest.
With an aim to bring the youth for the village together and provide them an opportunity exhibit their talents, the village council is organizing the tournament for the second year and would introduce volleyball for girls in the next edition.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said football is loved by all and through the game the village could strengthen the bond of unity of all people irrespective of tribes living in the village. He appreciated the unity of the village.
Lepshi said competing in a competition does not mean winning alone but it is also how one displays his/her talent with good sporting spirit and discipline. The foundation of good discipline and righteousness starts at home, he added.
Speaking on political line, Lepshi, who is also vice president of Naga Peoples’ Front, said DAN government is for the people and is giving much importance to promote the youth by creating various avenues which the youth of the village could avail.
Recalling the contribution of Khekiho Zhimomi’s contribution towards the uplift of the people, Lepshi said that the member of Rajya Sabha is a committed political leader who indeed has brought immense development to the area, which the people of the village should be grateful to him. He urged people to choose good and capable leader as their representative for betterment of the village.
Nehoshe Chophy, chairman, Sugar Mill Village Council delivered welcome address and Rev. Toshimeren, Pastor, Ao Baptist Church said the invocation.
