Maligaon, February 5 (MExN): To provide better passenger amenities, many long distance Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) trains have been converted to run with modern LHB rakes. A press release from Subhanan Chanda, Chief Public Relations Officer stated that from February 5, 15909 / 15910 Avadh Assam Express running between Dibrugarh – Lalgarh has been converted to LHB rake from conventional rake.
Train no 15960 / 15959 Kamrup Express was also converted to LHB rake in the month of January, with a total of 32 NFR trains running with LHB rakes at present. The LHB rakes are safer for high speed running and fitted with better passenger amenities, which will provide comfortable journey experience to the passengers, it added.
The NFR is attaching additional coaches in many trains permanently to provide more accommodation and reduce the number of wait listed passengers. Recently it has decided to add one AC 3 tier coach in trains like 15942 / 15941 Guwahati – Jhajha Express, 15944 / 15943 Dibrugarh - Silchar Express, 15646/ 15645 Guwahati – Lokmanya Tilak Express, 15636 / 15635 Guwahati – Okha Express, 15648 / 15647 Guwahati - Lokmanya Tilak Express, 15643 / 15644 Guwahati – Jammu Tawai Amarnath Express, 15651 / 15652 Guwahati – Jammu Tawai Lohit Express and one second class coach in 15713 / 15712 Katihar – Patna Intercity Express. One chair car coach has already been added in 13161 / 13162 Kolkata – Balurghat Tebhaga Express and 12363 / 12364 Kolkata – Haldibari Superfast Express.
