Joining the rest of country, Nagaland launched Viksik Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team) across the state on May 29.
Launching the campaign in Kohima, Nagaland Agriculture Advisor Mhathung Yanthan said that 39 teams formed for the campaign will reach out to the farmers across the state from May 29 to June 12. He called upon the farming community to take advantage of the campaign and make it effective and impactful. “The department is there for you,” he said and asked the farmers to come forward and access the various schemes and programmes being extended by the government.
Sanuzo Neinu, Director, Department of Agriculture Nagaland said that VKSA (One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team) is the initiative of the union minister of agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
The primary goal of the VKSA is to educate the farmers about the modern Agricultural Technologies to rebuilding the agriculture systems by integrating the latest techniques with indigenous knowledge of the farmers.
The VKSA is organised by the Department of Agricultural Research & Education (DARE)/ Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GOI, under the Pre-Kharif Campaign launching across the country from 29’ May to 12th June, 2025.
The major objectives of the programme is to make farmers aware about the major crops grown in Kharif season for specific region and modern agricultural technologies including the Animal husbandry, poultry farming , fish farming, etc.
It also aim to make farmers aware about the various government schemes and policies on agricultural developments useful to farmers, to inform the farmers about the benefits of Soil Health Card (SHC) and to make them aware about the selection of crops and use of fertilizers as per the knowledge available on it and taking the feedback from the farmers so that the scientists can learn about the innovations made by them and research can be given a new direction accordingly.
Nienu said that the campaign aims to strengthen farmers preparedness for the upcoming Kharif season through extensive outreach and knowledge disseminations.
The campaign has to be observed in close coordination of all the stakeholders including the ICAR/KVKs/ATMA and the Departments of Agri-Allieds in all the Districts/Block levels for successful implementation of the programme by mobilizing the farmers to ensure the maximum participation at all levels.
A total of 1270 teams is set up to reach out the farmers at the villages across the country.
This campaign will include the Technical session to impart the different topics from the different departments like, Veterinary & Animal Husbandary, Soil and Water Conservation and Agri-Allied departments.
