Governor reviews ICCC, Smart City infrastructure in Kohima
Kohima, September 18 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, Nand Kishore Yadav, held a review meeting with officials of the Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on September 18.
During the meeting, the officials gave a detailed presentation on the progress, achievements and present status of projects undertaken under the Kohima Smart City Mission.
The presentation highlighted that Kohima was selected under the Smart Cities Mission on September 20, 2016, with KSCDL subsequently formed as the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) in March 2017. The Smart Cities Mission concluded on March 31, 2026.
The presentation stated that 34 projects sanctioned under the Mission had been completed, while six additional projects were also completed, taking the total to 40 projects, the PRO Lok Bhavan Nagaland stated in a press release.
The officials apprised the Governor of major projects and urban infrastructure developed under KSCDL, including the Kohima City Centre, hotel building, commercial complex, multi level car parking facilities, Mini Sports Complex, Kohima Local Ground, Capital Cultural Hall, community halls, accessible footpaths and other public amenities. The projects cover areas such as urban amenities, mobility, smart services, public spaces and city centre infrastructure.
The review also covered the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), which has been completed and commissioned. The ICCC presently supports 24×7 CCTV surveillance, traffic management, ANPR-based vehicle monitoring, public safety and security, police coordination and investigation-related surveillance support. CCTV surveillance is available at 80 locations across Kohima, while the presentation recorded a 76.47% success rate in cases where ICCC surveillance data assisted investigations during November 2025 to September 2026.
The Governor was also briefed on the future institutional arrangement of KSCDL following the conclusion of the Smart Cities Mission.
The presentation noted that several revenue generating urban assets established under the Mission are operational, with the revenue intended to support additional public amenities and services. “The continuation and future role of the SPV beyond the Mission period remains under consideration by the State Government,” it stated.
