Chozuba, January 7 (MExN): The 51st Chozuba Area Sports Association Meet kicked off today at the Local Ground, Chozuba Town, Phek.
Gracing the inauguration, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) S. Supongmeren Jamir urged the gathering to move beyond tribalism and foster cordial relationships with everyone.
"Sportspersons are the role models of society," he said, expressing hope that they receive financial support.
According to the State DIPR, seven teams are taking part in the 5-day sports meet, scheduled from January 7-11.
The torchbearers for lighting the tournament were Mülüsayi Medeo, Yhoto Lohe, Valenülü Tetseo, and Cekrotalü Khüsoh.
The inauguration also featured a welcome message by Sungohi Tetseo and a presidential address by Vekrüto Nyekha. A folk dance was performed by the Yorübami Youth Association.
