Kohima, February 19 (MExN): The 54th Wrestling Meet 2026 of the Angami Sports Association (ASA) will take place on February 20 at Khuochiezie, Kohima from 9:00 am onwards.
MLA Kevipodi Sophie, Chairman, DPDB Kohima will be the special guest while Kethosituo Sekhose, Director, Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland will be the guest of honour.
Top wrestlers from ASA’s four units-Chakhroma Youth Organization (CYO), Western Angami Youth Organization (WAYO), Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) and Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA) will vie for the coveted champion titles.
The inaugural programme will be chaired by ASA General Secretary, Menguphrezo Ziephrii and Medolenuo Ambrocia Loucii and Neingusalie Khruomo as comperes.
Welcome address will be delivered by ASA president Ruokuovikho Chale while ASA wrestling secretary Zapusazo Sirie will administer oath to the wrestlers.
ASA champion 2026 will get a plot of land measuring 10,000 sq. ft, donated by Tepuleho Pusa of Viswema village.
The champion will also receive a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, sponsored by Angami Public Organization (APO). The 2nd position will be awarded with Rs 1.20 lakh, sponsored by Northern Angami Public Organization (NAPO).
The 3rd and 4th position holders will get Rs 80,000 and Rs 50,000, sponsored by Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) and Chakhroma Public Organization (CPO) respectively.
Losing quarter finalists will get Rs 10,000 each, sponsored by CPO.
The Western Angami Public Organization (WAPO) is sponsoring cash prizes for 1st Under-15 category. Champion- Rs 30,000, 2nd- Rs 20,000, 3rd- Rs 15,000, 4th- Rs 10,000 and losing quarter finalists at Rs 2000 each.
ASA will award Rs 1000 each to the participants.
In Group prizes, ASA has set aside Rs 75,000 for group champion and Rs 45,000 for 2nd position. The 3rd & 4th place will get Rs 30,000 each.
In individual prizes, the Best Tactic in senior and Under-15 category will get Rs 10,000 and Rs 5000 respectively, sponsored by ASA.
Meanwhile, tracksuit for ASA’s participation in the upcoming NWA championship 2026 is sponsored by Razouhol Khieya at Rs 1 lakh.
