Medical Department emerges overall champion
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 24 (MExN): The 6th Dimapur District Inter-Departmental Sports Meet 2024 came to a close on November 22 at the Multi Complex Stadium, Dimapur, marking a successful celebration of unity, camaraderie, and sportsmanship among government departments. Organized under the aegis of the Government of Nagaland, the event emphasized teamwork, fitness, and collaboration within the public sector.
The closing ceremony was graced by Kevithuto Sophie, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, who addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of such initiatives in fostering inter-departmental collaboration and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle. Sophie stressed the significance of teamwork, mutual support, and unity in such gatherings, encouraging government employees to take part in such events regularly.
“Everybody is a winner,” Sophie remarked, reflecting on the spirit of participation over competition. “As government servants, we are all busy with our responsibilities. This is a chance to come together, get to know one another, and support each other. These activities should be organized every year.”
The Commissioner also encouraged participants to recognize the importance of their roles in serving the people of Dimapur.
“With our unique responsibilities, we are all important in our roles. Together, we can contribute to helping the public and Dimapur as a whole,” he said.
The Medical Department emerged as the overall champion of the 6th Dimapur District Inter-Departmental Sports Meet 2024, followed by the Power Department in second place and the Department of Geological and Mining securing third place.
Dr Tinojongshi Chang, Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, along with the organizing committee, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants and departments for their enthusiastic involvement and support, which played a key role in the success of the event.
Zakabo Rotokha, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Dimapur, delivered the vote of thanks during the closing ceremony.
In his speech, Rotokha congratulated the teams for their dedication and hard work, which made the event a resounding success. He also expressed confidence that next year’s event would be even bigger and better.
“This event has been a remarkable success, and it is all thanks to the collective efforts of the organizing team and the enthusiasm of the participants,” Rotokha said. “I am confident that next year, this event will be even bigger and better.”
