DIMAPUR, MAY 7 (MExN): The Assam Rifles today informed that seven cadres from “various groups” surrendered at Dimapur Police Station on May 7 in the presence of Assam Rifles and other security agencies.
“During the surrender, the cadres deposited four .22 calibre pistols with ammunition, one 7.65 mm pistol with ammunition, one single-barrelled shotgun, one single-barrelled gun and one carbine with a magazine,” a press release from the PRO Defense stated.
The Assam Rifles said that it launched a “sustained outreach and coordination efforts to encourage misguided youth to shun the path of violence and return to the mainstream.”
