The 42nd biennial conference of the Aqahuto Area Students’ Union (AASU) commenced under the theme “Thrive in Transition” at Pimla village, Chümoukedima on January 9.
The president of Western Sumi Hoho (WSH), Vikato K Achumi, graced the inaugural session as the introductory guest.
In his address, Achumi encouraged the students to be true to themselves, and to always put God first before everything. Likewise, he asserted that the quality of a student lies in the practice of dedication and discipline.
At the same time, Achumi called on the students to address and voice out against social evils which are taking place in the Naga society.
Stating that parents look up to their children, he appealed to the students to give their best efforts, and make the Aqahuto Area and the Western Sumi proud.
Furthermore, Achumi advised the students to look at their goals in life and focused on that goal for a better outcome.

The President of Western Chakhesang Students’ Union (WCSU), Arazo Nyekha, in his greetings message, expressed hopefulness to see so many students coming together for the programme.
As students and leaders of tomorrow, he exhorted the students to embrace discipline, compassion and preservation for the coming future.
“Let us inspire one another with honesty and kindness, and support each other in the spirit of oneness,” Nyekha appealed.
Asserting that we are stepping in a new future, he encouraged the students to uphold the value of excellence, fairness and social responsibility by working and standing together.
Reflecting on the enduring bond of the Sumi-Chakhesang, he maintained that the bond is a cornerstone built on mutual respect and solidarity, adding that it is a testament of the strength of our shared values and cooperation over the time.
Earlier, invocation was led by Rev Shikiho Yeptho, Chairman AACLF and Pimla Village Students’ Union (PVSU) enthralled the gathering with an opening ceremony.
The welcome address was delivered by Head GB of Pimla village P Dohoi Swu while the benediction was led by Kihito Achumi, Pastor, K Xekiye Village Baptist Church.
