Above Thirty-five League kicks off 10th season in Chümoukedima

Chumoukedima, February 16 (MExN): The 10th season of the Above Thirty-five League kicked off at the Chumoukedima Police Ground on February 14, with eight teams set to compete over 14 weeks for the championship title.

The opening programme was graced by special guest Kvulo Lorin, Chairman of the Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation. In his address, Lorin underscored the importance of fitness and lauded the league as a platform for fostering camaraderie and staying connected with the sport. He also recalled his earlier association with the league as a player.

The programme, led by Lanusubu, began with a prayer by Thepfulhouvi (Asa). Convenor ATL Nchum delivered the welcome address, greeting the new entrant Nova Old Stars and welcoming back other participating teams. Rovikotuo, Advisor ATL, highlighted the origins of the league. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Himato.

In one of the opening matches held at DGP Ground, defending champions Nizams FC registered a hard-fought 3-2 victory over debutants Nova Old Stars.

At the 1st NAP Ground, Aben of Strikers Club scored six goals to power his team to a 7-2 win over Old Boys. In another match at the same venue, Super Strikers edged past Nizams Legends 1-0, with Temjen netting the winner through a counter-attack.

In another fixture, Trinity Sporting defeated Natak FC, with Toshi scoring a brace to secure the win.
