Airtel promotes Hornbill National Rock Fest for 4th year running

Kohima, December 6 (MExN): Bharti Airtel Limited, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 19 countries across Asia and Africa has reached out to the remotest areas in Nagaland at the request of villagers and local bodies to provide services in the interior parts of Mon, Longleng, Kiphire, Tuensang and Wokha where no other service provider services the local populace. More than 1000 local people get their livelihood in these areas through Airtel. With a market share of 37 %, covering all Districts in Nagaland, Airtel has provided a strong telecommunication network ushering in improved economic development of the region, by helping bridge the demand and supply gap in areas of agriculture, handicrafts & handloom, boosting tourism and benefitting the people of Nagaland.  
On the eve of the Hornbill Rock Fest, Mr. George Mathen Chief Executive   Officer NESA, Bharti Airtel Ltd. said, “Airtel is not only serving customers in Nagaland by providing a superior telecommunication network, but is closely associated with the Naga people in promoting their culture. Airtel is happy to promote local talent in music and to promote the tourism potential through associating with the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland, for the fourth year in succession.”
24 bands are taking part in the much awaited 2011 Hornbill Music Festival extravaganza which is taking place in Nagaland State capital Kohima. The grand finale on December 7 will witness the climax of the Airtel presents Hornbill National Rock 2011 with the winner being awarded Rs 5 lakhs. The contest is organized by the State Government’s Music Task Force (MTF), Department of Youth Resources and Sports.
Airtel has expressed gratitude for being chosen as the main sponsor of the Rock Fest by the Government of Nagaland and by the Project Director, MTF, Mr Gugs Chishi. The Hornbill Music Festival is an integral part of the Hornbill Festival 2011 and has been delighting thousands of music lovers who throng this mist clad hill town of the North East. Organized by Music Task Force under sports and Youth Resources Department and Bharti Airtel, the rock concert has been elevated to a national level competition since 2008.
