DIMAPUR, DEECMBER 2 (MExN): Akumienla L Imchen secured a bronze medal at the 11th Commonwealth Karate Championships held in Durban, South Africa, from November 28 to December 1. This achievement marks her as the first individual from Nagaland to win a medal at an international karate competition.
A Lance Naik in the 15th IR Mahila Battalion, Imchen has consistently showcased her prowess in karate. Earlier this year, she clinched another bronze medal at the 8th South Asian Karate Championship, underscoring her commitment to excellence in the sport.
The All Nagaland Karate-Do Association (ANKA) extended its congratulations to Imchen, celebrating her extraordinary accomplishment. ANKA also acknowledged the role of her coach, Temsu Sangtam from Logdrum Karate Club, Sangtamtilla, Dimapur.
Special recognition was given to ANKA President T. Sangtam for his financial support, which enabled Imchen’s participation in the championships.
