ANCSU urges state govt to urgently appoint NPSC Chairman, members

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 18 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) on Tuesday urged the Nagaland government to urgently appoint the Chairman and Members of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC), warning that the prolonged vacancies have stalled key recruitment processes and caused widespread uncertainty among aspirants.

In a letter to the Chief Secretary, the Union said the posts of NPSC Chairman and Members have remained vacant since September 13, 2025, severely affecting the normal functioning of the Commission. It said the absence of a duly constituted Commission has hindered efficiency and accountability in public service recruitment.

ANCSU stated that several decisions requiring the approval of a full Commission are pending, resulting in administrative stagnation and causing “uncertainty and stress” among thousands of candidates preparing for various recruitment examinations. The Union said the delay has also undermined transparency and meritocracy in public service.

The student body said it sees “no valid reason” for the government’s delay in filling up the posts and appealed to the authorities to immediately issue the notification and appoint the Chairman and requisite Members so that the NPSC can resume its full functioning without further delay.
