It is pleasing to note that the DMC had ordered for the closure of all the wine shops in and around Dimapur. But how far the mandate of the DMC will be abided only when we view that there are wine shops in and around every nook and corners of Dimapur. Well it’s a very big shame upon us Nagas who claim that we are Christians and out of the spirit of Christianity we have affixed the phrase Nagaland for Christ, but I don’t think that we really are Christians unless and until we close down all the restaurants which openly and covertly are wine and bottling places. Nagas should be ashamed of their unrestrained attitude towards all these restaurants and hotels indulging in wines. It is surprising that the addendum Nagaland for Christ is followed more in breach. Every colony to its greatest extent had stopped wine shops within their vicinity by the concerned GB’s but ironically in the middle point colony, circular road there exists two wine shops run by my same Sumi tribe fellows. It has been proved that these two owners of the wine shops have no other alternatives but sell wines to earn their livings but directly and indirectly their act had defamed the Sumi tribe in particular and the spirit of the Nagas as Christians in general. More ironically, the two shops are in the heart of the main street and that perhaps will add respect to our cherished phrase of Nagaland for Christ.
I hereby appeal to the Sumi Hoho, Sumi students Union, Naga Council, the DMC, GB’s Unions, and the Naga Hoho to take an earliest step to ban all these shops dealing in wines not only in the middle point colony but also from the Dimapur city. I am surprised to note here that what prevented the GB and the Naga public of the middle point colony to remain mere spectators. Is it a nearby outlet. The land owners of all those shops dealing in wines should be ashamed of by their unethical and unchristianic earnings through allotting their shops to wine sellers. The same question can be put upon all the other GB’s of Dimapur who are merely doing nothing to stop wine shops within their jurisdictions. Where not are wines shops available in Dimapur.
I believe that all the Nagas and all our Naga NGO’s will never stoop low and shall do the needful to stop and ban all those restaurants and hotels which are wine and modhu outlets. Being Christians they should be rather ashamed of their illegal and unethical earnings. If the Nagas if they really claims to be Christians will take up this task to its logical conclusion and revive the glory that Nagaland is really for Christ. I am surprised why still so far the NSCN (IM) remained silent on this issue. It should immediately pass order banning all these hotels and restaurants dealing in wines and modhu. I await the steps of all the mentioned organization in connection with the following objectives.
