Arms recoveries in Manipur

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 5 (MExN): In a series of joint operations, the Indian Army made recoveries of weapons, ammunition, and other war-like stores from various districts in Manipur. These operations, conducted in coordination with Manipur police and other security agencies, were carried out over the past few days.

On December 30, the Indian Army, along with Assam Rifles, CRPF, and Manipur Police, recovered a variety of weapons and ammunition in the Konchak area of Imphal West district.

This included a Carbine Machine Gun (CMG), a modified .303 rifle, two pistols, three single-barrel rifles, grenades etc.

Additionally, on December 31, a joint operation between Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in the general area between Thingphai & TS Laijang village in Chandel district resulted in the recovery of a M-16 rifle, three Lathods, seven Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and other arms and ammunition.

In Churachandpur district, further operations led to the recovery of weapons and ammunition including a Self Loading Rifle (SLR), a .303 rifle (modified), two automatic pistols, a single-barrel 12-bore gun, and anti-riot guns in the Khujoirok Nala area, northwest of Thumkhonglok on December 31.

Further operations in areas like Konchak (Imphal West), Leishangthem (Thoubal), and Laibol Khunou (Kangpokpi) between December 30 and January 3 saw the recovery of additional weapons, including a Carbine Machine Gun, a modified .303 rifle, several pistols, a Sniper Rifle (modified), and an Improvised Long Range Mortar.
