Assam Rifles personnel use a JCB to evacuate a truck stranded following soil erosion caused by heavy rainfall at Mimi in Nagaland.
Kohima, September 6 (MExN): Assam Rifles personnel assisted in the safe evacuation of two trucks stranded due to soil erosion at Mimi in Nagaland and organised a Teachers’ Day programme and tree plantation drive at Merapani Town High School, officials said.
At Mimi, the personnel responded after receiving information about two trucks stranded on a road following sudden soil erosion caused by continuous heavy rainfall in the area.
The rainfall had caused soil erosion along the road, leaving the surface unstable and muddy and restricting movement of the vehicles.

According to an update received here, Assam Rifles personnel reached the location, assessed the situation and mobilised a JCB to commence the recovery operation. With the assistance of local residents, both trucks were carefully manoeuvred and successfully evacuated from the affected stretch of road.
The prompt response helped reduce the risk to the vehicles and facilitated restoration of movement along the affected road.
Separately, Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps of the Indian Army organised a Teachers’ Day programme and tree plantation drive at Merapani Town High School, bringing together students, teachers and members of the local community.
The programme acknowledged the contribution of teachers in shaping young minds and promoting responsible citizenship. During an interaction with students and teachers, the importance of education, discipline, values and community participation was highlighted.
A tree plantation drive was also conducted on the school premises to encourage students to develop greater awareness and responsibility towards the environment.
The activities provided opportunities for interaction between Assam Rifles personnel and local residents and reflected the force's community outreach and assistance during adverse weather and other challenging conditions.
