• Atoizu Town Council honours PHC team
• Staffing shortages remain a concern
Atoizu, October 13 (MExN): The Atoizu Primary Health Centre (PHC) has been awarded National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification, securing an overall score of 91.12% in an external assessment conducted on July 10 and 11, 2026.
The certification was communicated by the National Health Systems Resource Centre on October 5.
The Atoizu Town Council, led by Chairperson Kitoli Naje, felicitated the PHC team, led by Dr Gihuka Chishi, the lone Medical Officer, for the achievement, stated a press release.
Meanwhile, grievances concerning the facility highlighted shortages of nursing personnel and Medical Officers, along with a vacant pharmacist’s position following the retirement of the previous incumbent.
The PHC is reportedly operating with only two nurses and one Medical Officer despite its 24-hour operational requirements. The staffing constraints underscore the need for continued support to sustain quality healthcare delivery in Atoizu.
