Twenty six years Atuo Tevo today emerged the champion title of 64th Wrestling Meet 2026 (Senior category) of the Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA), held at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.
Tevo, (Weighing 99 kg and standing 5’10), a defending champion, downed Neithongulie Kuotsu in final to retained the title.
Son of Kemese Tevo from Kidima village, Atuo received a cash prize of Rs 80,000 including a special award (A plot of land measuring 100X100 sq ft at Chumoukedima) from Tepuleho Pusa & family.
28 years Neithongulie Kuotsu, son of Do-o Kuotsu, weighing 105 kg and standing 5’9 from Phesama village stood second position and awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 60,000.
30 years Kekhrie Yhoshii, son of Wheto Yhoshii, weighing 103 kg and standing 5’ 11 from Kigwema village stood third position and pocketed Rs. 40,000.
29 years Ketoulhou Mejura (Weighing 80 kg and standing 5’9, son of Lt. Kuvi Mejura from Phesama village bagged 4th position and received Rs. 20,000.
The losing quarter finalists received Rs. 5000 each.
In Under 15 category, Rokokheto Ziitso, son Zhavi Ziitso from Kigwema village emerged the champion title and received a cash prize of Rs 20,000.
Kezhalhoulie Seletsu, son of Khrievihou Seletsu from Pfiichama village bagged 2nd position and awarded with Rs 15,000.
Theja Kipfe, son of Kevileto Kipfe from Phesama village and Azhovi Riilu, son of Vilapra Riilu from Mima village bagged 3rd and 4th position and received Rs. 10,000 and Rs 7000 respectively.
The losing quarter finalists received Rs 2000 each.
The cash prizes for both senior and Under 15 category was sponsored by V&V Club Kohima.
A total of 45 Senior Category wrestlers and 12 Junior Category (Under 15) wrestlers competed in the wrestling meet.
Earlier, Krodi Rhetso, Superintendent of Police, Kohima graced the meet as the inaugural guest.
He urged all athletes to be vigilant and stay fit at all times, and to showcase good sportsmanship.
Er Tepul Hopovi, president, Southern Angami Public Organization also graced the meet as closing guest.
Zehoto Kikhi officiated the meet as the chief referee with other referees and field judges from NWA Referee Board.
The Jury Board included Vitsoto Vitsu, Zapranei Mekro and Thinuomholhou Keyie.
SASA general secretary Ketosii Rikha chaired the inaugural programme while SASA president Dr Vimezo Kere delivered presidential address.
SASA wrestling secretary Neidamo Leno administered oath to the wrestlers.
The closing programme was chaired by SASA property secretary Kezhalekho Rhetso while vote of thanks was proposed by NASA vice president (Adm) Nometo Kin.
Meanwhile, Swetol Sothu and Pukil Kintso were announced as president and general secretary respectively of SASA new team, among the others, for the tenure 2026- 2028.
The new team was announced by nomination committee convenor Zakieleto Tsükrü while Zhavi Kere, Ex-Pastor, Kigwema Baptist Church prayed for the new team. The meet was managed by Southern Angami Catholic Union.
