Awareness and plantation drive at GHS Signal Angami

Dimapur, September 20 (MExN): An awareness cum plantation drive themed “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” was organized on September 19 at Government High School, Signal Angami, Dimapur. The event was held under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) to promote cleaner air and environmental stewardship through collaborative action.

The programme was spearheaded by the Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) in collaboration with the District Administration, with support from the school community. Student leaders, teachers, and members of DNSU participated in the plantation drive and awareness session, fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among youth and local residents. The programme was chaired by Azo Wetsah, while speeches were delivered by Kevin Gonmei and the Head Teacher of Government High School, Signal Angami. The banner displayed at the venue highlighted NCAP’s mission for cleaner air and a greener future.

According to the organizers, the initiative formed part of DNSU’s ongoing commitment to environmental advocacy, with resources and local support provided by the District Administration and Government High School, Signal Angami.

During the drive, students and educators actively planted saplings and engaged in discussions on air quality issues. Attendees also pledged to uphold cleaner, greener community values, marking what the organizers described as “a meaningful step toward sustainable environmental change in Dimapur.”
