Government High School (GHS) Tseminyu New Town observed a Bagless Day on September 12 to promote creativity, practical learning, teamwork, cleanliness, healthy living and life skills among students.
The class-wise activities, involving students from the pre-primary section to Class 10, provided an opportunity for students to learn beyond the conventional classroom setting and engage in meaningful hands-on experiences, headmaster Chegeseng Kath said.
Students in the lower section participated in creative activities such as paper craft, which encouraged imagination, creativity and fine motor skills.

Students of Classes 7 and 8 took part in a cleanliness drive on the school campus, including the Floralscape. The activity contributed to maintaining a clean, healthy and pleasant school environment while inculcating a sense of responsibility, discipline and respect for their surroundings, Kath said.
Students of Class 10 participated in various games conducted on a mark-based system. The activity promoted healthy competition, teamwork and sportsmanship among the students.

'From Farm to Plate'
Students of Class 9 participated in an activity based on the theme "From Farm to Plate: Making a Healthy Salad."
The activity was designed to provide students with practical knowledge about healthy food choices, hygiene, food preparation, kitchen safety and the importance of proper presentation.

The students were taught the importance of wearing hand gloves, hair nets or hair caps and aprons while preparing food. They were also taught the correct and safe way to handle a knife and proper cutting techniques to prevent accidental injuries to their fingers.
The salad prepared by the students was later shared and enjoyed by students and teachers, making the activity both educational and engaging.
Kath said the Bagless Day provided students with valuable opportunities to develop creativity, practical skills, teamwork, cleanliness habits, food awareness, safety consciousness and healthy lifestyle practices.
