Bank of Baroda honours Gauhati University hindi meritorious students

Guwahati, October 2 (MExN): As part of its Hindi Month celebrations, the Bank of Baroda, under the “Baroda Meritorious Student Felicitation Scheme” of its North Eastern States Zone, felicitated top-performing students of Gauhati University for the academic session 2025–26.

According to the university's merit list, Likuma Saha, who secured the highest marks in the final year of M.A. (Hindi), and Chintu Thappa, who secured the second position, were honoured during a special event held at the Auditorium of the Department of Hindi, Gauhati University. The students were presented with cash prizes of Rs 11,000 and Rs 7,500 respectively, alongside certificates of appreciation.

The felicitation was conducted by Dr Reetamani Vaishya, Acharya and Head of the Department of Hindi, Gauhati University, and Diwakar Jha, Regional Head of the Bank of Baroda, Guwahati Region, joined by other dignitaries.

As part of the celebrations, the bank also recognized and awarded winners of various student competitions, including essay writing, story writing, and extempore speech contests.

The programme featured a seminar themed “Employment Opportunities Related to Hindi in the Banking Sector,” providing students with insights into career prospects for Hindi graduates within the industry. 

Additionally, Sukanya Bhatta, In-charge of the Financial Inclusion Department at the bank's Guwahati Region, delivered a presentation on various banking products and services. An interactive quiz competition was also organised, drawing enthusiastic participation from students.

Bank of Baroda stated that such initiatives are designed to support academic excellence, encourage young talent, and promote the use and development of Hindi in professional and banking spheres.
