Bank of Baroda secures 20 awards under Official Language initiatives

Dimapur, September 19 (MExN): Bank of Baroda has been awarded the second prize under the Government of India's Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar Scheme for 2025-26 in the headquarters category for nationalised banks and financial institutions with more than 800 employees.

The award recognises the bank's performance in the implementation of Official Language and marks the fifth consecutive year that it has received the Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar.

The award was presented on Hindi Diwas 2026 and at the Sixth All India Official Language Conference held on September 14 at the CIDCO Exhibition Centre in Navi Mumbai under the chairmanship of Union Home Affairs and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.

Bank of Baroda Managing Director and CEO Debadatta Chand received the award from Union Ministers of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and Bandi Sanjay Kumar in the presence of Secretary (Official Language) Anshuli Arya and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Chand said the award reflected the bank's commitment to serving customers in the language they are most comfortable with.

The bank was strengthening multilingual banking across its digital and physical channels, including bob World, WhatsApp Banking, chatbots and call centres, he said.

The recent launch of its AI-powered tool, 'bob-SAMVAD', further enhanced the bank's ability to engage with customers across Indian languages, helping it understand their needs and provide an enhanced banking experience at the branch level, Chand said.

Bank of Baroda has received the Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar for five consecutive years in the nationalised banks category, comprising three first prizes and two second prizes.

The Town Official Language Implementation Committee (Office), Ayodhya, functioning under the bank's convenorship, also received the second prize in the 'A' linguistic region.

Further, 18 Town Official Language Implementation Committees functioning under the bank's convenorship were recognised with the NARAKAS Protsahan Samman on September 15.
