DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 22 (MExN): Two players from secured top positions in their respective categories at the 22nd edition of the North East Chess Championship 2024, which concluded today in Udaipur, Tripura.
Bovito Yeptho from Satami village claimed the 2nd position in the Under 1600 Rating Category, while Keyung Haikam from Gaili village secured the 2nd position in the Unrated Category.
In the Open Category, Gurung Rahul from Sikkim emerged as the Champion with 8 points, followed closely by Abhrojyoti Nath from Assam in 2nd position with 7.5 points, and Oniya Nalo from Arunachal Pradesh securing the 3rd position with 7.5 points.
From Nagaland, Melesai Dwhuo from Chetheba Town ranked 21st with 6.5 points, and Kevilekho Zumvu from Chiechama Village followed closely in 22nd position with the same score. Other notable players from Nagaland include Seyiekhrietuo Mere, Salhuto Nyekha, Mengise Haikam, Vesho Doulo, Thopimi K Assumi, Jitihto Nyekha, S Litingse Sangtam, IIcicang Haikam, Akangzang Haikam, Irangtui, Marwapang, Intovi Awomi, and Iloto Seb.
The championship, held over five days, saw Senior National Arbiter Vekukho Soho, Honorary Secretary of the Nagaland Chess Association, officiate as Arbiter, ensuring smooth proceedings throughout the event.
