Impressing upon that Nagaland also represents the best in the country in terms of having an exclusive department for music and arts, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor to School Education & SCERT on Friday underlined the importance of collaboration with various institutions.
Addressing the 6th Edition of the Brillante Piano Festival at the British Council in New Delhi on September 18, he stated appreciation for the ability to be hosting one of the country's most distinctive piano festival that is being organised in partnership with British Council this year.
Brillante Piano Festival was founded by prominent pianist and music educator, Khyochano TCK, to celebrate the piano, its history, impact and future. The festival serves as a platform for emerging talents to showcase their skills, learn from experts, and connect with fellow musicians while featuring performances, workshops, masterclasses, and competitions, all designed to inspire and nurture the next generation of pianists.
Even as a society that is young and vulnerable, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome remarked that it is important that we show ourselves as a society. “As you can see from the talents of our youngsters, you will see that we are highly adaptive,” he also stated.
Describing the collaboration as the power of cultural expression and engagement, Alison Barrett MBE, Country Director, British Council India remarked that. “culture is rooted in one community, but has the power to really engage many many communities and international audience.”
Stating that it's a great opportunity to celebrate the work that is being done between India and the UK, she also expressed that, “this is cultural exchange in practice.”
Founder of Brillante Piano Festival, Khyochano TCK also spoke on the journey of the festival that has grown from one edition to the other and stated appreciation to everyone involved in the journey over these 6 editions while making mention of stakeholders, who are interested in building a strong, positive, developed pathways for music and culture in India.
Brillante Piano Festival that first started in Kohima in 2017, and is now marking its entry right in the heart of the country's capital is being held from September 18-20, 2026.
