Canara Bank felicitates girl toppers, holds career guidance at DNKGHSS

Kohima, August 16 (MExN): Canara Bank, Kohima Branch, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, felicitated girl toppers of Dr Neilhouzhii Kire Government Higher Secondary School (DNKGHSS), Seikhazou, Kohima, and conducted a career guidance session for students on August 15.

The programme was organised in collaboration with DNKGHSS under the Canara Vidya Jyothi Scholarship Scheme, which provides financial support to meritorious and underprivileged SC/ST girl students studying in Classes 5 to 10. The scheme aims to prevent dropouts, promote academic excellence and advance gender equality.

Canara Bank has been supporting girl students through the initiative over the years. 

During the current year, its CSR initiatives across Nagaland have covered nine districts, with assistance amounting to approximately Rs 2.4 lakh, informed a press release from the Bank. 

Girl toppers from Classes 5 to 10 were felicitated by Adani Thomas, Branch Manager, Canara Bank, Kohima Branch, and Ruokuosieu Vizo, Vice Principal, DNKGHSS.

The career guidance session, attended by students of Classes 9 to 12, featured talks on different career options. 

Tsuzo, Assistant Branch Manager, spoke on opportunities in the banking and public sectors, while Temsuwapang Nukshiba highlighted opportunities in engineering and technical fields. Dr Meno Thorie guided students on stream selection after Class 10 and career opportunities across different streams.

The programme emphasised the role of scholarships, education and career guidance in encouraging girl students to pursue higher education and meaningful careers, the release added.
