CBCC appalled over SIR meeting scheduled on Sunday in Phek

Phek, September 20 (MExN): The Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) has expressed strong displeasure and appallment over the decision of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to conduct the publication draft of electoral rolls under the Special Intensive Revision 2026 for all four assembly constituencies under Phek District on September 20, 2026, which fell on a Sunday.

In a statement issued from its mission centre in T. Chikri, Pfutsero, on September 19, 2026, the CBCC termed the last-minute information a clear indication of a conspiracy by the ECI to deceive the Christian community in the district and questioned why freedom of religion is not being given a chance.

The council stated that it is disheartening for the government and its machineries to desecrate the Day of the Lord, which is hallowed by the Christian community, despite being fully aware of it.

The CBCC further criticized the Government of Nagaland, political parties, Christian electoral officers, and bureaucrats in authority within the Christian-dominated state for remaining tightlipped while the Christian faith is repeatedly interfered with by external forces.

Further, the CBCC vowed to strongly detest and protest against any individual, political party, organization, administration, or government that undermines the Christian faith and conspires to destroy the Church with ulterior motives.
