The Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) today informed that the coaching camp for CWA selected wrestlers for the upcoming NWA championship 2026 will commence from February 19 at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.
CWA general secretary Kukhoto Venyo informed that Huvesu Puro and Surhoneyi Soho will assist the coaching camp as head coach.
The CWA selected wrestlers in Senior category includes; Venuzo Dawhuo (CAWA), Hiiliiyi D, Vadeo (SWA), Venu Vadeo (CRWA), Mulusu Veswuh (CRWA), Thuputha Hesuh (SWA), Kuluvezo Soho (PAWA), Besuhveto Cumu (CAWA), Nubasa Rhakho (PAWA), Kiivenii Puro (SWA), Khriethoveyi Veswuh (CRWA), Venuto Nyekha (CRWA), Rukukhoto Khusoh (CRWA), Sukhrure Domeh (SWA), Sasiiyi Nyekha (CRWA), Vevokho Ruho (CAWA) Muleciyi Vadeo (CRWA), Mululhu Nienu (CRWA) and Vemele Thingo (CAWA).
Under 15 category selected wrestlers includes; Kutho Puro, Zuve-o Keyho, Mutuve Dozo, Bizo Chizo, Mudoto Dozo, Chure Pohena, Beceve Vero and Cekrovezo Resuh.
CWA hails James PK Sangma
Venyo stated that the CWA was deeply touched by the kind and humble love and affection of James P K Sangma, who graced the 30th Chakhesang Wrestling Championship 2026 at Pfutsero on February 7 as the Special Guest.
“His insightful speech has deeply impacted our community and the wrestlers. We are grateful for his letter expressing admiration for preserving traditional sports like Naga Style Wrestling and encouraging us to take it to a higher level, earning recognition beyond our community,” Venyo said.
Meanwhile, the CWA extended its gratitude to all individuals and organizations who contributed to the success of CWA Wrestling Championship 2026.
It thanked the Ground Management team and the Porbami Wrestling Association for managing the event successfully.
It also thanked all the prize sponsors, Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), Angami Sports Association, Zeliang Wrestling Association and all other affiliated tribal units of NWA for their contributions and support.
