Imphal, December 28 (NNN): A Congress worker who came to attend the 126th foundation day celebration of Indian National Congress here was arrested by police on the charge of carrying an illegal gun during the function which was also attended by the State chief minister, a police source said on Wednesday.
Md Habidur Rehaman, 38 from Yairipok Tulihal Awang Leikai in Thoubal district was said to be an active Congress worker of Keisham Ninghthemjao of Yairipok Laimanai, who is preparing to contest in the coming 10th assembly elections seeking Congress ticket.
The police found a 9mm pistol from his possession which has no license, Further investigation would be conducted in connection with the gun and Rehman is now in the police custody.
