Cooch Behar Trophy: Innings for Nagaland win over Sikkim

GOLAGHAT, DECEMBER 28 (MExN): Nagaland made easy work of Sikkim in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy (2019-20) engineering an innings win in less than two days in a 4-day game. On day 1 (December 27), Nagaland posted 324 (all out) in 76.2 overs after choosing to bat at the Golaghat DSA Ground.

Nagaland’s 1st innings rotated around a superb 124 from Vedansh, who found support in the middle order after openers Afzal (0) and Vipul Kapoor (5) were out cheap. After the openers fell, Vedansh and skipper Hem dug in, the latter scoring a quick 55-ball 51. After Hem Rahul (45) and Yugandhar (31) hung around, allowing Vedansh to settle down.

Sikkim’s Rahul Kumar and Anwesh claimed 4 and 3 wickets, respectively.

Sikkim’s outing at the crease was a disaster getting all out for 155 in less than 50 overs. Bowler Bhim, who claimed 2 Nagaland wickets, provided the only resistance to the Nagaland attack making gutsy 53.

Ranjen was the pick of the Nagaland bowlers, who claimed 4.

Asked to follow-on, Sikkim faltered again getting bowled out in 32.2 overs with its 2nd innings score reading 112 and 57 runs short to make Nagaland bat. Bhim top scored with 29 followed by Subhojit, who made 27.

Nagaland’s Hem claimed 4, Vipul- 3, Ranjen- 2 and Daniel- 1.
