CRPF to organise state level Kohima Half Marathon on Oct 5

Kohima, September 16 (MExN): The 78 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will organise the State Level Kohima Half Marathon on October 5 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima under the "SPANDAN – Sports for Peace and Development Across Nation" initiative, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI).

The event is aimed at promoting fitness, unity, peace, social harmony and community participation through sports, while providing an inclusive platform for people across Nagaland to come together in the spirit of healthy competition and national integration.

The marathon will feature three categories for participants across different age groups.

Participants aged 18 years to below 30 years, both male and female, will compete in the 21-km category, while those aged 30 years to below 45 years will also compete in the 21-km category.

Participants aged 45 years and above, both male and female, will compete in the 10-km category.

The organisers have announced prizes for male and female participants up to the 10th position in each category.

The prize structure includes Rs 30,000 for the first position, Rs 20,000 for the second, Rs 15,000 for the third, Rs 10,000 for the fourth and Rs 5,000 each for the fifth to 10th positions.

The prize structure will apply separately to male and female participants in all three categories, resulting in a total of 60 prizes with an overall prize value of Rs 6.30 lakh.

The marathon carries the message, "Run for Fitness | Run for Unity | Run for Peace", reflecting the broader vision of SPANDAN to use sports as a means of strengthening social bonds, encouraging healthy lifestyles and fostering peace and harmony among communities.

The 78 Battalion CRPF has encouraged maximum participation from across Nagaland, particularly youth, sportspersons, students, community members and fitness enthusiasts, to make the event a landmark sporting occasion in the state.
