Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): The Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) has stated that the Tizu area of Phek district is facing a major problem of lack of high schools. During its district ‘educational tour,’ the CSU observed that parents are struggling to send their children for higher education due to weak economy, transportation and communication difficulties. “Most of their dreams are hindered due to their limited resources,” CSU stated in a press note issued by the General Secretary, Kewelhilo Rabvo.
CSU began its ‘educational tour’ on November 22 at the district headquarters Phek which ended today. The union members toured some of the most backward region covering 12 villages, 13 government primary schools and 5 government middle schools under Tizu Area.
The CSU stated concerning the primary schools, shortage of teachers specially trained faculty was the biggest stumbling block in producing quality education in the area. The Union stated that it is disappointed with the concerned department for negligence of the primary schools, where some schools are found without appointing any teacher. The Union while emphasizing on quality education has strongly cautioned the irregularity of teaching and non- teaching staffs and warned the schools that keeping substitute teacher is not permissible. It warned that the union will be compel to take its own action on founding of such practices.
The CSU stated that the tour was conducted with the sole concern of educational development at the grass root level. The Union members inspected the final examination, school buildings, infrastructures and the facilities provided by Government under SSA. The Union also interaction with the school staffs and the VECs, grievances and difficulties were also discussed, the note informed.
The CSU further stated that it appreciates the Government for assisting the schools in different policies under SSA. The Union lauds the Government for providing the congenial environment and modern class rooms.
