Kohima, September 8 (MExN): The Bharat Ko Jano Yatra (A Chain Programme) was held at St Xavier Parish Hall, Jalukie town in Peren district on September 8.
The event was organised by North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) Dimapur, Ministry of Culture, GoI in collaboration with the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland.
Altogether, eight Cultural Troupes from Assam, Sumi, Chakhesang and Zeliang Community participated in the event, showcasing the rich cultural diversity of the region.
The troupes were Assam (Nagajori Sanskritik Kendra, Golaghat) Troupe, Chakhesang Folk, Sumi (Nimheghi Club, Xelhozhe), and Zeliang Community troupes including Indigenous Cultural Club Jalukie 'B', Jalukie Students' Union Cultural Troupe, Samziuram Cultural Troupe and Intimate Cultural Troupe, Heningkunglwa and Jalukie Town Youth Group.
Gracing the event as the guest of honour, Albert Ezung, ADC Jalukie Sub-Division stated that India is a country of diversity yet unified through culture, so also Nagas have diversity, every village/tribe has its own uniqueness. “Therefore, we survived strong enough to live together,” he said.
The event was also graced by Major Devesh Kumar AR, Jalukie Town, Kevipele, Adviser, NZPO and various NGOs and prominent public leaders.
Earlier, keynote address was delivered by Teisovikuolie Therie, Deputy Director cum Nodal Officer, NEZCC. Namnabi Hegui, Associate Pastor JTLBC invoked God’s blessing. The programme was compered by Namgwangheile Nsarangbe while vote of thanks was proposed by Mapeudibe, District Cultural Officer, Peren.
