Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): Emphasising the need for greater digital vigilance amid rising cyber threats, Bosco College of Teacher Education (BCTE) organised a cyber security awareness programme in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Dimapur, and the college’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on February 17.

Held at the college’s Multipurpose Hall, the programme brought together faculty members and students to deliberate on safe online practices and emerging cyber risks.

The resource team included Tia Temjen from the State Bank of India and Daniel Meren, Additional Director, NIELIT Dimapur, who was accompanied by Vekutu and Kimatsung, Work-Based Learning (WBL) interns, and Inohoto, Technical Assistant at NIELIT Dimapur.

In his address, Meren underscored the importance of cyber vigilance in an increasingly connected world.

He highlighted threats such as phishing, online fraud, identity theft and data breaches, and shared practical measures to safeguard personal information, banking credentials and institutional data.

A demonstration of the ICSAS (Initiative for Cyber Security Aware Society in North-Eastern States) mobile application, developed by NIELIT, was also conducted.

Participants were informed that successful completion of the app-based modules would enable them to obtain certificates, contributing to their academic and professional profiles.

The session included discussions on common digital scams and case-based examples to enhance understanding of digital footprints and online responsibility, informed a press release from the college.
