DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 17 : Pointing out that the state government has already communitised about three to four departments; the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur Hushili Sema on Saturday said it was now the turn of the people/community to inculcate a sense of ownership in the undertakings of such departments.
It may be mentioned that in a communitised school, the management functions substantially vests in the community. The Village Education Committee is vested with certain administrative and financial powers. This way, the government seeks to forge a unique partnership between the government and the community.
Hushili, who was the chief guest at the brief programme asked the teachers to be sincere in their duties and coordinate with the VEC members. She also encouraged the people to use the effective tool of RTI against any department that was not sincere.
DEO Dimapur, Asono Ndang said since the elementary education has been communitised by the government, all respective villages should think that the schools belong to them and the community and accordingly work for the uplift of the school. She said a concerted effort was needed from teachers, students, parents and the community alike if a school has to progress. She urged the teachers to be regular and sincere as they were handling the future of many students. She acknowledged the help and support of the community for the successful relocation and extension of the school.
School students presented various entertainment items. The programme was attended by SSA members, Thahekhu Village Council members, students and well wishers.
