The District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Zunheboto, honoured NBSE HSLC topper Kiphili Y Kiba, who secured a position among the top 10 in the state, during a programme held at the DHEW office on May 5.
Kiphili, a student of Olympic Higher Secondary School, Zunheboto, was honoured under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, which aims at promoting women’s empowerment and education.
Speaking on the occasion, Kiphili shared insights into her preparation strategy, stating that she dedicated long hours to her studies, often staying up late until she was confident in her understanding of each subject.
She highlighted that Science and Mathematics were the most challenging subjects for her, which she overcame through the use of online resources and by seeking guidance from her teachers.
Reflecting on her family background, Kiphili said that she comes from a family of five siblings and credited her parents for treating all their children equally, without discrimination between boys and girls. She emphasised that such support played a crucial role in her achievement.
“As a young woman, I was able to achieve this because of the equal opportunities given to me at home. I encourage everyone to speak up, recognize their potential, and strive to do their best,” she said.
The felicitation was led by Sheli V, District Mission Coordinator (DMC), DHEW Zunheboto.
