Did not ban UG “taxes” – DCCI

Dimapur, July 18 (MExN): Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) today denied that it has imposed a ban on payment of what it termed “taxes,” to underground organizations. The DCCI has never issued such directives to any business organization or establishments, a note form the DCCI stated. “It is learnt from various sources that certain businessmen are of the opinion that the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has imposed a ban of payment of taxes to various underground organizations,”  the DCCI note said.
“It is hereby clarified that the DCCI has never issued any such directive to any businessman or business organization / establishment.
The DCCI has no authority to impose such type of ban and hence, such opinions are purely a misconception of certain individuals. This is clarified and issued for public understanding at large.”
The only ban imposed by the DCCI is on the “sale of lotteries, calendars, mementos or payment of donations to various student organizations, civil societies, NGOs.” The “same” should not be “misconstrued as the two are entirely different issues,” the organization said. “Henceforth, any such complaints may also be addressed in writing so that the same can be deliberated and determined after thorough examination. All are requested to extend cooperation so as to foster in better understanding,” the DCCI added. President of DCCI Hokivi Chishi appended the note.
