Winners of the 1st Dr KC Nihoshe Memorial Open Football Tournament held at the District Sports Council Ground in Zunheboto on November 28.
Zunheboto, November 28 (MExN): The closing ceremony of the 1st Dr KC Nihoshe Memorial Open Football Tournament was held at the District Sports Council Ground in Zunheboto on November 28. The final match saw an exciting contest between Dimapur Chaos and Peregrines Club Football. Dimapur Chaos sponsored by Jimos Car Rental Dimapur emerged as champions, securing a 2-0 victory. Honato (Jersey No. 9) and Nungsanh (Jersey No. 88) scored the winning goals for Dimapur Chaos, showcasing teamwork and skill.
The closing ceremony was graced by Major Prince Fernandez of 11 Battalion Assam Rifles Zunheboto as the guest of honour.
In his address, Major Fernandez extended gratitude to the Trojans Club for organizing the tournament in memory of Dr KC Nihoshe. He emphasised the importance of supporting young talent, remarking, “Today you’re playing here, but who knows, some of you might even make it to the FIFA World Cup or Manchester. Keep your eyes on these youngsters and give them your love and affection.”
Hokato Yepthomi, President, Trojans Club delivered a presentation, acknowledging the contributions of all involved in the tournament. A special performance by Noghuli Chipuku followed, before Nimughato Zhimo, Convenor of the event, delivered a vote of thanks. The ceremony concluded with a benediction by Avilo Achumi, Assistant Children’s Pastor of SBCZ.
Sukhalu Village, who provided food, accommodation, and logistics for the players of Dimapur Chaos also received special recognition for their support. Additionally, the Peregrines Club Football Zunheboto, established in 2024 by 18 like-minded friends, sponsored the team, contributing to the success of the event.
