Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): Dimapur Athletics, under the aegis of the Nagaland Athletics Association, will celebrate World Kids Athletics Day 2026 on May 7 at Pilgrim Higher Secondary Ground, Kuda B, Dimapur, marking five years of promoting grassroots athletics in the region.
The event aims to encourage young children to take part in athletics, enhance physical fitness and nurture sporting talent from an early age.
Competitions will be held across three age categories. Under-8 participants will compete in the 5-metre approach run long jump, Under-10 in the 60-metre sprint, and Under-12 in the kids javelin throw.
Age verification of participants will take place from 8 am to 9 am on the day of the event. Participants are required to present valid documents such as Aadhaar card or birth certificate.
The event is open to both boys and girls. Participation and merit certificates will be awarded to all eligible participants.

Kohima: The Kohima District Athletic Association (KDAA) is set to celebrate the Kids Athletic Day under the theme “World Mile Challenge” on May 7 at Secretariat Junction, Kohima from 6:00 AM onwards. The event aims to promote fitness, sportsmanship, and early athletic development among young children. Participants will compete across three age categories: Under 8 years, Under 10 years and Under 12 years.
Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category. In addition, merit certificates and participation certificates will be presented to all eligible participants.
A nominal registration fee of Rs 100 per participant has been set. Schools, both government and private, are encouraged to register their students and take part in the event.
