Dimapur, September 12 (MExN): The Rotary Club of Dimapur celebrated Teachers’ Day by hosting the Rotary Gyan Jyoti Awards 2026 at Rotary Centre, Dimapur on September 10.
Club President Pradeep Goel, welcoming the gathering, described teachers as architects who shape students' careers and character and contribute to nation building. He stressed that appreciation and respect for teachers should extend beyond a single day, stated a press release.
Six outstanding educators from schools across Dimapur and Chümoukedima were honoured: Zuinla Jamir (GHS Sematila, Dimapur), Marina Semy (Cosmopolitan School, Chümoukedima), Dhan Bahadur Chetry (Gonyü Memorial School, Chümoukedima), Renthunglo Ovung (GMS Midland, Dimapur), Loshumbeni (GMS Metha Colony) and Anungla Pongener (GHSS, Lengrijan).
The Club also recognised its own educators, Kitoshi Zhimomi, Monoj Bhattacharjee and Sanjukta Bhattacharjee for their continued contribution to education.
Interact President Neiketonuo Shuya, a student, spoke on the importance of appreciation, respect and togetherness, reminding the gathering that recognising those who build society is itself a responsibility.
The programme was chaired by Pradip Jain, with Sanjay Jain as Co-Chair.
