Dimapur, November 20(MExN): The Inclusive Education (IED) DMA, SSA Dimapur conducted orientation programme for parents of children with special needs (CWSN) in its five EBRCs Kushiabill, Urban, Niuland, Doyapur and Medziphema in Dimapur District. Parents of children with special needs such as cerebal palsy, locomotor, mental retardation, multiple disability, learning disability, low vision, visually impaired and hearing impaired were given parental counseling.
In a press note received from Kitoli Naje, District Project Coordinator, DMA, SSA, Dimapur it was stated that the attendance, response and participation of parents were remarkable. It was also mentioned that all the parents were concerned about their desire to form parents’ association and also to avail disability certificate for their children. The need to educate all categories or levels of disabled children, different activities and facilities available for CWSN in IED SSA Dimapur (Education Department) and the rights of CWSN in schools, society/public places and at home were the main points discussed.
The team was led by Imsuinla, District IED Coordinator, EBRC personals, NGOs from Prodigals’ Home Dimapur Urban, People in need Foundation Doyapur, DAN Medziphema and Kushiabill Guardian Angles actively participated in the programme. It was further mentioned that IED DMA SSA will be celebrating ‘World Disability Day’ on 3rd December in collaboration with four CBR NGOs OF Dimapur District.
